High Forehead, Round Face: What Hairstyle Works Best for Her? Posted on June 17th

I got a letter this week from Mary, who’s 49, and wants to know what hairstyles would flatter her most. According to Mary, she has a high forehead and a “very round” face. She’s says she’s “always hot, but not in a good way,” which I assume means she’s going through menopause and wants a short, comfortable cut.
My suggestion to Mary was to get long, sideswept bangs, which would balance out her high forehead (I have one and bangs were a lifesaver to me). I also recommended cutting in layers. Layers tend to flatter every face shape, including a round one. Without knowing what type of hair she has (coarse, curly or thin), it’s hard to give more advice. I also suggested she check out my photo gallery of flattering haircuts for round faces. Perhaps Ellen Barkin’s cut shown at left would be good for her. It’s sleek and sophisticated. If she has coarser hair, I like the playful look to Lisa Rinna’s cut.
